"THE ODD DUCK" is A FABLE about a duck named Emm who became separated from her parents at an early age, forgot she could fly, and was RAISED LIKE AN ORPHAN BY DYSFUNCTIONAL CHICKENS in a chicken coop.
Author TOM O'CONNELL HAS WRITTEN MANY ARTICLES ON THE PROBLEMS FACED BY ADULT CHILDREN OF DYSFUNCTIONAL HOMES. In this story he describes how Emm tries to be like the chickens, but all her trying can't make her into one. So she is a duck who feels very alone and different. EMM IS AN OUTSIDER SURROUNDED BY CHICKENS WHO THINK SHE'S VERY ODD, and she feels very uncomfortable emotionally.
Another duck named Tee, who understands her plight, serves as Emm's GUIDE TO PERSONAL GROWTH. But she doesn't trust him at first, so the suspense builds about whether she will continue to see herself as "EmmTee" or feel like part of a "TeeEmm" in the new friendship.
The story is WRITTEN FROM THE HEART, and combines WISDOM, INSIGHT, AND HUMOR. The author tells the reader about Emm's struggles, her confusion, her "tunnel" experience, her life as a "chicken duck," and the way SHE LEARNS TO FIND COURAGE, HEALING, AND LOVE. .
This book was definitely written for odd people of all ages. So if you have felt like an outsider at one time or another...THIS BOOK WILL WARM YOUR HEART.
